Today I would like to talk about Genial.ly. This web is a very useful tool for bring encourage and motivation to our class. This app allows you to make very visual slideshows presentation.
Genialy has more resources than Powerpoint or even Prezi.
First, There are a lot of templates that can it fit with your topic and that means it will be easier to get right. (also, it is true that some of them are just usable if you pay for it)
Then, another good thing about Genialy is that inside the web, when you are creating a presentation, you have a lot of resources like gifts, pictures, icons, and you don´t need to look for it in other pages or tools because it has his own bank resources. So that make you don't loose time.
Next, it is good to say that, when you are going to start to make your slideshow, you can choose if you want something to presentate, something to interact or something to explain. That makes very easy to adap the slideshow to your topic or whatever you want to do with your content.
For my topic "Simple Machines" I used a presentation.
There, I start the topic with a brainstorme with some questions, and I attached some gift from Genialy`s bank resources to make it more fun an visual. Then, a little introduction of the topic with questions like "what do I alredy know?" and "what would you like to know about it?"
After that I start with the main idea about simples machine and I attached a interactive light bulb, that means that if I click on it, a new resource from Pinterest with more information will be opened.
The next thing of the topic is types of simple machines. For that I used my own pictures but the shape of this page was alredy designed by the web. In this part, I added some symbols of information on each kind of machines and this icon is conected with the page that I explain this part. Then, if I want to come back I press in the word BACK and I will be on the main page of types of simple machines.
After that, there is a video where it is possible to summaraize all the information.
At the end, a manipulative activity.
This presentation it would be perfect for teachers to explain this topic for the whole class, but also, it would be perfect too if our students have an Ipad for working by theirself because is very interactive and easy to follow the steps and work by theirown.
